My Personal Projects

A few of my ‘for the love’ projects. Most are just for me and one or two are for other people. The links below vary. Some open up a gallery, others will take you to another page. Please enjoy!

The Sonnet Project is a design assignment I gave myself after reading Shakespeare’s sonnets: create an image for each of the 154 sonnets. Click to view the project.

I write short stories, a passion that grew out of a lifetime of reading. Click to read some of my work.

Doctor Oracle’s Mad Laboratory was created to provide a display case, of sorts, for my web work that is weird, proprietary, or for some other reason doesn’t fit in my portfolio.Click to enter the lab.

A messenger-style bag, sewn from scratch. It came out a million times sturdier than I expected. Click for larger image.

Bookbinding is a hobby that requires precision and patience. The results are always very satisfying. This example is a sketchbook done in coptic-style binding. Click for larger image.

I love to fiddle with old machines, seeing what I can make them do. This example is running without a hard drive, instead it uses the cd drive and a usb flash drive to run Ubuntu Linux.

Mab is queen of the fairies. She’s referred to in Romeo & Juliet and she is also described as a midwife to help sleepers ‘give birth’ to their dreams. Click for larger image.

I’ve developed a penchant for taking macro shots of flowers, enough so that I can devote a whole photo page to them. If you’d like, you can view the gallery.

A one-off drawing, done freehand in ink, from a photo reference. I love to draw and wish I had more time to devote to it. Click for larger image.

And once more we circle back around to craft. Knitting and crochet are soothing to my mind and finishing a piece is one of my little joys. I’ve always got a bunch of projects ‘on needles’. Click for a small gallery of work.
